Southern Oregon Big Game/Scenario Game scheduled for October 9th 2010

PRE-REGISTER HERE

OK here it is, we are going to try to get a big game going for mid October. Looking at other fields in the Pac/NW things are slimming down this time of year. I will be getting on the horn with sponsors to get some cool raffle prizes donated. I will also be talking to some possible vendors, but they will only come if the turn out is substantial. If you are interested in attending please post on the forum so we can get an idea of turnout #’s. Remember the more players we get committed the more raffle prizes we will have. I will be talking to Erik about getting a registration page going so you can prepay and save a little cash. Rocket launchers and tanks are welcome. This will be a one day event, and entry will be $20/$10 for DMZ Army members, which will also include all day air/Co2. Paint will be normal pricing. Rentals will be available at no charge to the first 40 players. I will be working on the hay field,  putting some more structures and bunkers in. So tell your friends and pencil in October 9th, you have plenty of time to save for it or get the OK from Mom or your honey. If you register for the news letter, I will keep you updated as to the progress of the game.

Hats off for Daniel’s Team, winning the Monte Carlo Woodsball Tournament Jan 31st 2010

It was a great day for Paintball, witha break between storms, the paintball gods were good to us. With a total attendance of 38 players for the tournament, we picked 6 team captains. Glenn, Jacob, Garrett, Lance, Daniel and Eric, picked their team from available players from a hat. We started the games at about 10:15 with every team playing every other team one time. The game format was woods, modified half Field with the upper trail out of play. After games got going it seemed like the blue team, (Jacob’s) was the one to beat, with Glenn’ team in a close second. It came down to the showdown of Jacob”s team vs Glenn’s team on the second to last game. Jacob’s team scored a perfect game (the only one of the day) to score 120 points to seal the first place position going into the finals. The last game would determine the final team to go to the finals, if Garrett’s team (purple) scored more than 40 points they would move to finals over Daniel”s team (yellow). It was up to Lance’s team (burgundy) to determine this. Lances team held Garrett’s team to 30 points and Daniel’s team were going to finals in the fourth position.  The final four were Jacob, Glenn, Eric (red), and Daniel.

We switched the finals up and played the hay bale Field with the center house (inside) out of play, Jacob would be in his element. The first game was Glenn vs Eric, Glenn lost the coin toss, like he had done all day LOL and Eric had choice of side. Eric’s team came out blazing and took immediate control of the field, Glenn’s team held defense for quite a while when Eric did a run through, eliminating Glenn and sealing the game. Red team would go to the finals.

The next game was Jacob’s team against Daniel’s team, (father vs son) On the break it seemed like Jacob’s team took good field advantage and stopped Daniels team in their tracks, They were forced to play defense right away. After loosing a couple of players, Jacob seemed like his team still had the game under control. Jacob moved position and got shot out, Daniel’s team was now on offense. It was all over for Jacob’s team. It was the upset of the day.

Now Daniel and Eric’s teams would showdown in the final game for all the marbles. The game started with both teams playing conservatively not to make mistakes. It was a long game with no eliminations for the first 5 minutes. The game started to break in favor of Eric’s team with a couple of eliminations and a flag grab by Zac, but soon after Zac and Eric got shot out and yellow was closing in for the kill. Daniels team pulled it off, coming from 4th place in the finals to win the entire tournament. Total prize pot was $190.00 They were happy to be the winners.

After the tournament we had a civil war skirmish line battle with the last man standing winning a case of paint. We started out with 18 players, 9 on each line. We started about 50 yards away and players had to shoot from their hip. After each team shot one shot at the other line, they all took one step forward. Steps went on for about 6 rounds before the first player fell from ranks. Players started falling out with every step from then on and shooters were figuring out how to aim from the hip. Gun hits did not count, so some players put their guns in front of them, hoping not to get hit in the body, a flinch would also put you out of the game. The winner took a box of paint home.

It was a good day and went off without a hitch, there was no complaining, no whining and players generally seemed to be happy with the fun they had, the reffing was good as I got great feed back from players on all teams. For some it was there first time playing, and others it was a good experience. We will be hosting these Monte Carlo tourneys every couple of months, so if you missed this one, keep an eye out for the next, some time in March or April. Thank you to all that showed up and participated and supported this event, we really appreciate it and look forward to other fun events with you.
